The Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) is a federal grant which requires that spending be used in specific areas.  Part of the Fairfax County Public Schools spending plan identifies funding to be used for Unfinished Learning and Student Academic and Social, Emotional, Mental Health (Wellness) Needs.

Primary Years Programme/ Portrait of a Graduate

Goal

  • By June 2023, 100% of grade level teachers (PK-6) will design and implement at least three inquiry-based experiences per unit of inquiry that elevate student voice and increase student engagement.

Strategy

Teachers will design and implement structures that provide students the opportunity to acquire and build language comprehension.

English Language Arts

Goals

  • On the 2022-2023  Reading SOL, 100% of  students in grades 3-6 will pass or make growth as measured by the VGA/SOL.
  • 70% of students in grades 1-2 will meet grade level expectations or move at least one overall placement level on the Reading iReady assessment. 
  • 70% of students in PK and K will meet the grade level benchmark as measured by PALs.

Strategy 1

Teachers will design and implement structures that provide students the opportunity to acquire and build language comprehension.

Strategy 2

We will refine and organize our instructional block and practices to ensure all students receive appropriate and differentiated Tier 1 instruction.

Strategy 3

We will implement protocols to meet the individual academic needs of students identified as tier 2 and tier 3.

Mathematics

Goals

  • On the 2022-2023  Math SOL, 100% of  students in grades 3-6 will pass or make growth as measured by the VGA/SOL.
  • 70% of students in grades 1-2 will meet  grade level expectations or move at least one overall placement level on the Math iReady assessment. 
  • 70% of students in PK and K will meet the grade level benchmark as measured by the EMAS.

Wellness

Goal

  • By the end of the 2022-2023 school year, our school will utilize various strategies (Morning Meeting, after school groups, etc) to effectively build relationships and teach self-management subskills, increasing schoolwide scores on the self-management topic of the SEL Screener by 10% from 34 to 44 percent favorable.

Strategy 1

We will implement protocols to meet the individual behavioral and social emotional needs of students identified as tier 2 and tier 3.

Strategy 2

Develop adults’ foundational knowledge regarding the rationale for required practices and tools to support their implementation
