Language Arts

What are we learning?

Word Study Goals

  • Readers use multiple sources of information in order to solve, monitor, self-correct, and confirm. 
  • Readers use known words and word parts to solve new words. 
  • Readers notice a range of punctuation and dialogue to reflect meaning through phrasing.

Home/School Connection

  • Continue to read Poetry through Starfall.com.
  • Create and illustrate a poem.

Math

What are we learning?

  • Model one-step story and picture problems involving sums to 10 using concrete objects.
  • Solve one-step story and picture problems involving sums to 10.
  •  Model one-step story and picture problems involving differences within 10 using concrete objects.
  • Solve one-step story and picture problems involving differences within 10.

Home/School Connection

  • Draw a story problem picture scene.
  • Create and solve a one step story problem.

Science

What are we learning?

  • The student will investigate and understand that change occurs over time and rates may be fast or slow. Key concepts include: changes can be observed and measured.
  • The student will investigate and understand basic needs and life processes of plants and animals. Key concepts include: plants need nutrients, water, air, light, and a place to grow to survive.

Home/School Connection

  • Draw the 5 basic needs of living plants.

  • Friday, June 11- Last day of school- 2- hour early release

Technology Information:

  • At the end of the school year ALL school-issued laptops will have to be returned to Dogwood. Laptops will not be kept over the summer.  More details on drop off and collection procedures are coming soon.
  • Dogwood’s Solution Station is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 AM to 11 AM. Stop by and drop off your child's laptop. You will be notified when the laptop is ready for pickup, usually within the same day.
